12:1 [hgb]  罗 波 安 往 示 剑 去 。 因 为 以 色 列 人 都 到 了 示 剑 要 立 他 作 王 。 
    [kjv]  And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.
    [bbe]  And Rehoboam went to Shechem, where all Israel had come together to make him king,
12:2 [hgb]  尼 八 的 儿 子 耶 罗 波 安 先 前 躲 避 所 罗 门 王 ， 逃 往 埃 及 ， 住 在 那 里 （ 他 听 见 这 事 。 ） 
    [kjv]  And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
    [bbe]  And, hearing of it, Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who was still in Egypt, where he had gone in flight from Solomon, and was living there, came back to his town Zeredah, in the hill-country of Ephraim;
12:3 [hgb]  以 色 列 人 打 发 人 去 请 他 来 ， 他 就 和 以 色 列 会 众 都 来 见 罗 波 安 ， 对 他 说 ， 
    [kjv]  That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,
    [bbe]  And all the men of Israel came to Rehoboam and said,
12:4 [hgb]  你 父 亲 使 我 们 负 重 轭 ， 作 苦 工 。 现 在 求 你 使 我 们 作 的 苦 工 ， 负 的 重 轭 轻 松 些 ， 我 们 就 事 奉 你 。 
    [kjv]  Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
    [bbe]  Your father put a hard yoke on us: if you will make the conditions under which your father kept us down less cruel, and the weight of the yoke he put on us less hard, then we will be your servants.
12:5 [hgb]  罗 波 安 对 他 们 说 ， 你 们 暂 且 去 ， 第 三 日 再 来 见 我 。 民 就 去 了 。 
    [kjv]  And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
    [bbe]  And he said to them, Go away for three days and then come back to me again. So the people went away.
12:6 [hgb]  罗 波 安 之 父 所 罗 门 在 世 的 日 子 ， 有 侍 立 在 他 面 前 的 老 年 人 ， 罗 波 安 王 和 他 们 商 议 ， 说 ， 你 们 给 我 出 个 什 么 主 意 ， 我 好 回 覆 这 民 。 
    [kjv]  And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
    [bbe]  Then King Rehoboam took the opinion of the old men who had been with Solomon his father when he was living, and said, In your opinion, what answer am I to give to this people?
12:7 [hgb]  老 年 人 对 他 说 ， 现 在 王 若 服 事 这 民 如 仆 人 ， 用 好 话 回 答 他 们 ， 他 们 就 永 远 作 王 的 仆 人 。 
    [kjv]  And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
    [bbe]  And they said to him, If you will be a servant to this people today, caring for them and giving them a gentle answer, then they will be your servants for ever.
12:8 [hgb]  王 却 不 用 老 年 人 给 他 出 的 主 意 ， 就 和 那 些 与 他 一 同 长 大 ， 在 他 面 前 侍 立 的 少 年 人 商 议 ， 
    [kjv]  But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
    [bbe]  But he gave no attention to the opinion of the old men, and went to the young men of his generation who were waiting before him:
12:9 [hgb]  说 ， 这 民 对 我 说 ， 你 父 亲 使 我 们 负 重 轭 ， 求 你 使 我 们 轻 松 些 。 你 们 给 我 出 个 什 么 主 意 ， 我 好 回 覆 他 们 。 
    [kjv]  And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
    [bbe]  And said to them, What is your opinion? What answer are we to give to this people who have said to me, Make less the weight of the yoke which your father put on us?
12:10 [hgb]  那 同 他 长 大 的 少 年 人 说 ， 这 民 对 王 说 ， 你 父 亲 使 我 们 负 重 轭 ， 求 你 使 我 们 轻 松 些 。 王 要 对 他 们 如 此 说 ， 我 的 小 拇 指 头 比 我 父 亲 的 腰 还 粗 。 
    [kjv]  And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.
    [bbe]  And the young men of his generation said to him, This is the answer to give to the people who came to you saying, Your father put a hard yoke on us; will you make it less? say to them, My little finger is thicker than my father's body;
12:11 [hgb]  我 父 亲 使 你 们 负 重 轭 ， 我 必 使 你 们 负 更 重 的 轭 。 我 父 亲 用 鞭 子 责 打 你 们 ， 我 要 用 蝎 子 鞭 责 打 你 们 。 
    [kjv]  And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
    [bbe]  If my father put a hard yoke on you, I will make it harder: my father gave you punishment with whips, but I will give you blows with snakes.
12:12 [hgb]  耶 罗 波 安 和 众 百 姓 遵 着 罗 波 安 王 所 说 你 们 第 三 日 再 来 见 我 的 那 话 ， 第 三 日 他 们 果 然 来 了 。 
    [kjv]  So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
    [bbe]  So all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king had given orders, saying, Come back to me the third day.
12:13 [hgb]  王 用 严 厉 的 话 回 答 百 姓 ， 不 用 老 年 人 给 他 所 出 的 主 意 ， 
    [kjv]  And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;
    [bbe]  And the king gave them a rough answer, giving no attention to the suggestion of the old men;
12:14 [hgb]  照 着 少 年 人 所 出 的 主 意 对 民 说 ， 我 父 亲 使 你 们 负 重 轭 ， 我 必 使 你 们 负 更 重 的 轭 。 我 父 亲 用 鞭 子 责 打 你 们 ， 我 要 用 蝎 子 鞭 责 打 你 们 。 
    [kjv]  And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
    [bbe]  But giving them the answer put forward by the young men, saying, My father made your yoke hard, but I will make it harder; my father gave you punishment with whips, but I will give it with snakes.
12:15 [hgb]  王 不 肯 依 从 百 姓 ， 这 事 乃 出 于 耶 和 华 ， 为 要 应 验 他 借 示 罗 人 亚 希 雅 对 尼 八 的 儿 子 耶 罗 波 安 所 说 的 话 。 
    [kjv]  Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
    [bbe]  So the king did not give ear to the people; and this came about by the purpose of the Lord, so that what he had said by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam, son of Nebat, might be effected.
12:16 [hgb]  以 色 列 众 民 见 王 不 依 从 他 们 ， 就 对 王 说 ， 我 们 与 大 卫 有 什 么 分 儿 呢 ？ 与 耶 西 的 儿 子 并 没 有 关 涉 。 以 色 列 人 哪 ， 各 回 各 家 去 吧 。 大 卫 家 阿 ， 自 己 顾 自 己 吧 。 于 是 ， 以 色 列 人 都 回 自 己 家 里 去 了 ， 
    [kjv]  So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
    [bbe]  And when all Israel saw that the king would give no attention to them, the people in answer said to the king, What part have we in David? what is our heritage in the son of Jesse? to your tents, O Israel; now see to your people, David. So Israel went away to their tents.
12:17 [hgb]  惟 独 住 犹 大 城 邑 的 以 色 列 人 ， 罗 波 安 仍 作 他 们 的 王 。 
    [kjv]  But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the ci............
